Avalanche Campgrounds |
Avalanche Lake Trail4 miles round trip |
|
|
The trail begins at the Avalanche campgrounds and the Trail of the Cedars trailhead, following the Trail of the Cedars along Avalanche Creek about 1/2 mile to the Avalanche Lake Trail.
Bears are known to be in this area so make lots of noise as you hike and do
not hike alone. As you begin your hike to the lake, Avalanche Creek
passes through a beautiful canyon of red argillite rock. Carry a
camera to capture the color and shapes of this scenic area.
Avalanche Lake is located in a narrow valley created by long-ago
glaciers. Surrounded on three sides by spectacular peaks
forming a bowl shape, the lake takes on the appearance of a mirror
resting at the bottom of the bowl. |
